LOXAHATCHEE, Fla. (AP) - The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office is again facing a federal civil rights trial over a deputy's shooting of an unarmed man.

The parents of Seth Adams are suing the agency and Sgt. Michael Custer, saying he unjustifiably shot and killed their son in the parking lot of the family's nursery in May 2012. Jury selection begins Monday.

Custer told investigators that Adams shouted at him, grabbed him by the throat and went into his truck as if searching for a weapon. He says only then did he fire four shots, killing the 24-year-old.

Adams' parents say the evidence shows Custer is lying. They say a fellow deputy saw the two interacting normally a minute before the shooting and that Custer's neck had no bruising.

Custer is white. Adams was also white.
