CRESTVIEW, Fla. (AP) - A Florida school bus driver is being charged with child neglect after authorities say he dropped an 8-year-old disabled student off more than a mile from her house and told her to walk home.

The Northwest Florida Daily News reported Friday that Anthony Wayne Campbell was booked into jail on May 11 and released the next day on $3,000 bond.

An arrest report says that the student's mother filed a complaint back in February alleging that she had made arrangements for the child to be dropped at her home. The mother told authorities she normally transported her child herself but she made arrangements for that day.

After the mother filed a complaint Campbell was placed on administrative leave as authorities conducted an investigation.

Court records do not list an attorney for Campbell.
