MAYTOWN, Fla. (AP) — The Florida Highway Patrol says a man was killed when he lost control of his motorcycle, fell onto the road and was struck by a passing sports utility vehicle.
The crash happened early Friday near Maytown, which is south of Daytona Beach.
Sgt. Kim Montes says 20-year-old Joshua Garcia swerved to try to avoid the motorcyclist, but the front of his vehicle hit the man. The man was dragged by the SUV into a ditch.
A truck that was traveling behind Garcia then struck the motorcycle and overturned into a ditch. The driver, 20-year-old Travis Larson, sustained minor injuries. Garcia was not hurt.
The motorcycle driver died at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
