3 Killed in Separate Motorcycle Crashes in Tampa Bay Area

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say three people were killed in separate motorcycle crashes in the Tampa Bay area over the weekend.

The Florida Highway Patrol reports that 56-year-old Lawrence Silva and 59-year-old Laurel Silva were riding a Kawasaki motorcycle in Clearwater Sunday evening when an oncoming pickup truck turned left in front of them. The bike hit the truck, killing Lawrence Silva and critically injuring Laurel Silva.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office reports that 30-year-old James Shenefield was riding his Harley-Davidson through Brandon early Sunday morning when he failed to negotiate a curve and drove into the median. He died at the scene.

The sheriff's office reports that 47-year-old Jeffrey Nichols and 40-year-old Dawn Nichols were approaching a Tampa intersection on a Kawasaki motorcycle when two cars crashed in front of them. The bike hit one of the crashed cars, leaving Jeffrey Nichols seriously injured and Dawn Nichols dead.
