CANAL POINT, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say one person is dead and another is hospitalized after a tractor-trailer hit a utility pole along Lake Okeechobee.
Palm Beach Fire Rescue Capt. Albert Borroto tells The Palm Beach Post (http://pbpo.st/1LjAqtN ) that one person in the truck was killed in the crash early Tuesday in Canal Point. A second person was airlifted to a hospital, but it wasn't immediately clear whether that person also had been in the truck.
Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Therese Barbera says the crash knocked out power in the surrounding area.
According to Florida Power & Light's website, over 240 customers were affected by the outage.
