FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) - Scott and Kim Rothstein are now officially divorced, more than five years after their high-flying lifestyles came undone with the unraveling of his $1.2 billion Ponzi scheme.
The no-fault divorce was granted Monday by a Broward County judge. Kim Rothstein wanted to resort to her maiden name, Wendell, but the judge said she must keep Rothstein because she's on federal probation.
The South Florida Sun Sentinel (http://bit.ly/1IhLBbp ) reports that Scott Rothstein did not contest the divorce. He is serving a 50-year prison sentence for the scheme that involved investments in phony legal settlements.
Kim Rothstein served 15 months behind bars for trying to hide $1 million in jewelry and other assets from authorities. The Rothsteins' homes, luxury cars, jewelry and other assets were seized and sold to repay investors.
