SARASOTA, CO., FL (WWSB) – The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man who forcibly restrained a woman in her own home for five days.
On Wednesday morning, deputies responded to a disturbance in the 5400 block of Stone Haven Lane. Detectives investigated and found Isidro Espina-Aquino holding a woman, who was an acquaintance of his, hostage in her own home since June 1.
Espina-Aquino tied the woman up, taped the interior door handles shut, and forced her to take Xanax pills. He also threatened to inject her with a substance called Dilaudid, according to deputies.
The victim was able to free herself when Espina-Aquino fell asleep. She manage to get out of her home but not before Espina-Aquino noticed and started chasing her.
She managed to get to a neighbor’s house as Espina-Aquino caught up to her. He grabbed her and tried to force her back to her own home, said deputies.
The neighbor was able to rescue the woman and pulled her inside, where they called 911.
The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office then arrested Isidro A. Espina-Aquino for Domestic Battery, False Imprisonment, and Violation of an Injunction for Protection.
