BROOKSVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say five people are dead after a box truck and pickup truck collided at a Tampa Bay area intersection.
The Florida Highway Patrol reports that the box truck was traveling south on a Hernando County road north of Brooksville Monday morning when it failed to stop for a stop sign and red flashing lights. The box truck crashed into a westbound pickup pulling a utility trailer. The pickup caught fire, and its five occupants died at the scene.
FHP says two occupants of the box truck sustained serious injuries and were airlifted to nearby hospitals.
Officials weren't immediately identifying any of the victims.
