ROYAL PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Authorities have arrested a man they say tried to rob his former employer with a toy water gun.

Palm Beach County Sheriff's officials said Jimmy Pierre, 35, went to the Outback Steakhouse where he used to work on Monday and held the water gun against the manager's head while ordering him to open a safe.

Authorities said the manager asked Pierre what he was doing, warning that fellow employees would easily be able to identify him.

Pierre, who was fired in October, said he was broke and needed money. According to an arrest report, the two struggled over the gun and Pierre allegedly dropped a computer monitor on the manager's head and tried to burn him with a hand torch.

The Sun Sentinel reports Pierre faces charges of armed robbery and aggravated assault.
