(AP) - Ryan Lochte says he's "learned some valuable lessons."
In an Instagram post, he's apologizing for his behavior surrounding an incident at a gas station in Rio de Janeiro.
Lochte had claimed he and three teammates were victims of an armed robbery, but Brazilian police say the swimmers had vandalized a gas station after a night of drinking and partying, and that they were confronted by armed security guards.
Lochte says he "should have been much more responsible" in how he handled himself, and that he regrets taking attention away from other Olympic athletes.
