BUSHNELL, Fla. (AP) - Sheriff's officials in central Florida say a 58-year-old man is recovering after an alligator attacked him.
The attack happened around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Bushnell after the man found the gator on his property and shot it.
WESH (http://bit.ly/28QCbr3 ) reports that when the man moved closer to see if the gator was dead, it lunged at him and bit him on the right leg. The man was taken to a hospital in Ocala for treatment.
A trapper from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission euthanized the alligator.
The attack comes a week after an alligator killed a 2-year-old Nebraska boy who was vacationing with his family at Disney World outside Orlando.
Bushnell is northwest of Orlando.
