The Flood Watch is now in effect for

* A portion of northwest Alabama, including the following areas,

Colbert, Franklin AL, Lauderdale, and Lawrence.

* From Noon Today Through Friday afternoon

* Periods of moderate to heavy rain showers are expected

starting this afternoon and lasting through Wednesday evening.

Additional heavy showers and a few thunderstorms are expected

Thursday night through Saturday night. Additional rain totals

of 4 to 6 inches are expected through Saturday night, with

locally higher amounts possible. Surface soil conditions are

saturated and much of this rainfall will occur as runoff. Many

of the local rivers and streams are expected to go into flood

as a result.

* Residents should make preparations now if they live in a flood

weekend.
