The National Weather Service in Huntsville Alabama has extended the

* Flood Warning for...

Southwestern Madison County in north central Alabama...

* Until 930 PM CST Wednesday.

* At 315 PM CST, Doppler radar and rainfall gages indicated in

excess of 3 inches rainfall occurred in southern and western

Madison County. This caused Indian Creek to rise rapidly, and

though it crested earlier this afternoon, additional rainfall

within the past 2 to 3 hours will likely cause further rises this

evening above flood stage of 7.5 feet. For this reason, the Flood

Warning will be extended through late this evening. Should the

rises not occur from rainfall earlier today, the warning can be

cancelled earlier than expected. Stay tuned for further forecast

updates on Indian Creek!

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...

Northwestern Huntsville, Madison, Redstone Arsenal, Triana,

Marshall Space Flight Center and Harvest.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small

creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as

well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All

interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.

Central Lauderdale County in northwestern Alabama...

Colbert County in northwestern Alabama...

* Until 930 PM CST Wednesday.

* At 313 PM CST, emergency management has reported flooding ongoing

in low-lying areas in Lauderdale and Colbert Counties. Around two

to three inches of rain fell yesterday and an additional one to

two inches of rain today was sufficient to result in flooding

across the area.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...

Florence, Muscle Shoals, Sheffield, Tuscumbia, Killen, Cherokee,

Littleville, Lexington, St. Florian and Underwood-Petersville.

In addition, flood waters are moving down Bear Creek from Bishop to

the Allsboro area. The creek is expected to crest at moderate stage

tonight.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood

deaths occur in vehicles. Also, the road bed may be washed out under

the water, and you could be stranded or trapped.

interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.
