The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for Poor Drainage Areas

for...

Cherokee County in northeastern Alabama...

* Until 500 PM CST.

* At 202 PM CST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to

thunderstorms spreading across the area. This rain was falling on

areas that have received heavy rain during the past couple of

days. A quick one to two inches of rain is possible in some

areas...and this may cause localized flooding of streets and

roadways...especially in low-lying flood prone areas with poor

drainage or near small creeks and streams.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...

Centre, Cedar Bluff, Little River Canyon National Preserve, Forney,

Centre Municipal Airport, Leesburg, Sand Rock, Gaylesville,

Tennala, Cherokee Rock Village, Pleasant Gap, Cornwall Furnace

Park, Blanche, Eastern Weiss Lake, Little River Falls, Slackland,

Western Weiss Lake, Moshat, Ball Flat and Coloma.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood

deaths occur in vehicles.
