COLUMBUS, Ga. (AP) — Aflac Inc. (AFL) on Thursday reported fourth-quarter earnings of $525 million.
The Columbus, Georgia-based company said it had profit of 69 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to $1.02 per share.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 94 cents per share.
The insurer posted revenue of $5.13 billion in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $5.48 billion.
Aflac expects full-year earnings in the range of $4.10 to $4.30 per share.
Aflac shares have risen 5 percent since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has increased roughly 8 percent. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $47.95, a climb of nearly 9 percent in the last 12 months.
