TALLAHASSEE, FLA. (WTXL) -   Over 1 billion people around the world live below the poverty line. To help raise awareness, a group of students at Florida State University are taking part in a global movement.

The fsu student organization, Students for Ending Poverty will take part in the Experience Poverty Challenge. The global movement helps raise awareness about how people in poverty live.

The co-president of STEP tells me in order to only spend $1.50 a day, the group buys food in bulk. The students hope their participation in the challenge inspires others.

Participants are sponsored throughout the challenge in order to raise money for a selected charity. This year's charity is Deworm the World Initiative.

The experience poverty challenge begins on April 12th.
