9-year-old child in Leon County tests positive for COVID-19

LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — The Florida Department of Health confirmed Thursday that a 9-year-old child has tested positive for coronavirus in Leon County.

According to the FDOH's Thursday report, the child, a 9-year-old girl, recently traveled to the United Kingdom before testing positive for the virus.

They don't believe she had direct contact with an already confirmed case.

The other three new cases reported Thursday morning are as follows:

  • 23-year-old Leon County man - Not travel-related, had contact with confirmed case
  • 21-year-old Leon County man - Recently traveled to Florida and Mexico, had contact with confirmed case
  • 49-year-old Leon County man - Not travel-related, had contact with confirmed case

As of Thursday, there have been 74 cases reported in Leon County.

So far, 71 Leon County residents have tested positive for COVID-19. Three non-residents have also been treated for coronavirus in the county.

Of the confirmed cases, patients range in age from 9 years old to 86 years old. The zipcodes in the county with highest number of cases are 32303, 32308, and 32304 with 13, 11 and 11 cases each, respectively.
