MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- A similar pattern from Wednesday afternoon is unfolding again along the region of North Florida and South Georgia with pop-up showers and thunderstorms continuing to produce frequent lightning at times and in some cases, severe conditions as well. The threat of the storms should continue to diminish along the region as the daylight heating lessens with the sun setting. This pattern shouldn't continue through the end of the week at this intensity with the nearby high pressure system over us likely strengthening its hold. This wont limit rain coverage to zero but will help increase sunshine and keep us HOT. Daytime highs for Friday are expected to reach the mid to upper 90s across North Florida with possibly higher temps near the century mark in South Georgia. Lower to mid 90s will be likely for the coast with coverage across the region at 20%. This trend will continue to warm up through the weekend with daytime highs in the upper 90s and low (20%) rain coverage.
