MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- From the Storm Team Weather Center ...

A weak upper disturbance straight above the region is helping in the scattering of showers and some thunderstorms, building a bit more robustly in the Suwannee Valley and moving to the west-southwest through the early evening.  Scattered action in the Apalachicola River basin as moving slowly and erratically.  In general, periods of heavy rain and frequent lightning are possible, along with occasional wind gusts.  Overnight lows will drop to the lower 70 once thunderstorms end.  A cold front will approach from the west Tuesday through Wednesday and provide another batch of rain and storm development, especially by the afternoon.  Highs will still manage to reach 90 or so, but the summer heat and humidity are set to be broken as the cold front passes to the southeast late Wednesday through Thursday.  A strong upper low will force a drier air mass into the region for the tail end of the week, which will promote mild highs and noticeable cooler lows, possibly in the 50s by Saturday morning in some inland locations.  Rain chances will also be eliminated with the new air source.
