VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL)--The Valdosta Police Department is planning to host an event called Youth Empowerment.

It's from March 23-27, from 6-8 p.m. The five night event takes place at different locations during the week:

Monday - Hudson Dockett

Tuesday - Big Lots parking lot

Wednesday - Valdosta/Lowndes Parks and Recreation Authority - 1901 North Forrest Street

Thursday - Big Lots parking lot

Friday - Soccer field at Vallotton Park

Children will learn all about resolving conflict without violence, peer accountability, anger management, and bullying.

Valdosta Police Detective Sabrina Smith came up with the idea.

She is donating her time and effort so that children can learn to handle issues with a level head.

Several speakers are lined up to give some motivational speeches. Refreshments will also be served.

"This event is sponsored by the Valdosta Police Department and is part of the police department's goal of preventing juvenile delinquency while at the same time establishing a rapport between the city's youth and law enforcement", stated Chief Brian Childress.
