THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WTXL) - In South Georgia, the Thomasville Bulldogs got a new turf field this summer, and head coach Zach Grage has told his guys they better play like they belong on a pretty new field.

The Bulldogs didn't end the spring the way they would have liked, but had a great summer. Now, they are looking to build on that success as they head into the fall.

Thomasville returns quarterback JT Rice, who threw for nearly 1700 yards last season, as well as their leading rusher and receiver. Coach noted that they head into practice everyday with a single goal, and as long as they can be proactive now, the Bulldogs will be fine in a couple of weeks.

"It's a lot easier to coach after a loss because everyone is trying to change things then it is when you win 49-0," he said. "I have players ask, 'well coach, we just won 49-0 what is there to change?' We're trying to fix that on the front end, trying to be proactive in stead of reactive. We're just starting to learn how to compete and how to win and how to compete and how to get started quick."

Thomasville opens the regular season at home against Cairo on August 18th.
