Clemson, S.C. (Seminoles.com) – Stepping up in a big way on Thursday night, sophomore guard Nausia Woolfolk and freshman guard Savannah Wilkinson guided No. 11/12 Florida State Women’s Basketball (14-1, 2-0) to a 69-47 win on the road at Clemson in FSU’s ACC road opener at Littlejohn Coliseum.
Woolfolk recorded a career-high 18 points, providing FSU some much-needed offense in a game where both defenses reigned. Wilkinson, a freshman guard from London, England, came up big off the bench with 14 points and four 3-point field goals in 24 minutes.
Senior forward Shakayla Thomas recorded her 90th double-figure game of her career with 11 points while moving into third on Florida State’s all-time scoring list. Redshirt senior point guard AJ Alix added nine points and added eight assists to just three turnovers.
Clemson’s Alexis Carter led the Tigers with 16 points in the loss.
The Seminoles continue with ACC play on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. when it travels to Syracuse. The matchup will air on the league’s regional sports networks, which includes FOX Sports Florida.
POST-GAME NOTES
• Shakayla Thomas’ jumper with 2:48 remaining in the second quarter passed Seminole legend Tia Paschal for third place on the FSU all-time career scoring list. Thomas now has 1,667 career points.
• Nausia Woolfolk’s performance was her seventh double-figure game of the season. She added six rebounds and three steals.
• FSU out-rebounded the Tigers 44-26 and pulled down 22 on the offensive glass, one below its season high.
• The Seminoles out-scored Clemson 32-4 in bench points and 25-8 in second chance points.
• Florida State has not lost a game against Clemson since March 1, 2008, winning 17 straight.
• Since the 2014-15 season, FSU is now 19-6 on the road in ACC play.
• FSU begins 2-0 in ACC play for the first time since the 2013-14 season and the eighth time in program history.
• Head Coach Sue Semrau won her 28th game against Clemson since becoming FSU’s head coach in the 1997-98 season – her most wins against any ACC school.
• Redshirt senior guard Imani Wright missed her first career game at Florida State due to illness.
• FSU has gone 42-8 in ACC play since the 2014-15 season.
