TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State volleyball team finished out its final home stand with a straight-set victory over Boston College on Senior Day. The Seminoles (14-10, 8-8) outhit the Eagles (6-20, 3-13) at a clip just under .500 to stay dominant throughout the match and earn its fifth sweep of the season.

The Seminoles saw a number of dominant players contributing to its success, but it was the seniors—Natasha Calkins, Milica Kubura, and Cecilie Woie—who really led the team in a number of statistical categories on their final home match as Seminoles.

Kubura led the offensive effort with a .611 attack percentage (11-0-18) in her final home match at Florida State. Calkins was also able to cut down on errors to earn a .222 hitting percentage, and Woie picked up 11 digs and added six assists to keep the Seminoles ahead of the Eagles throughout the match.

While the team is done with its home schedule for the season, FSU’s season and vision of a postseason run isn’t over yet. FSU will play its next four matches on the road to close out the season, heading to Virginia, Virginia Tech, Clemson and Georgia Tech.

Set 1 – Florida State 25, Boston College 20

The Seminoles stayed consistent in the opening set to hold an edge over the Eagles throughout the set, using tough defense to hold Boston College at a clip of just .024. FSU started off the match with another forceful offensive effort, which was led by seniors Milica Kubura and Natasha Calkins, who hit a combined .400 with seven kills on 15 attacks.

The freshman starters made their presence known in the first set as well, as Tiana Jackson stayed perfect to earn two kills and a solo block, while Taryn Knuth’s balanced effort gave her a .500 hitting percentage with four blocks (two solo). The Seminoles were able to close out the set ahead five points and gain a 1-0 lead in the match.

Set 2 – Florida State 25, Boston College 17

FSU once again gained the lead from the beginning of the second set and held onto it until the end, staying perfect with no errors across the board. While the Eagles put up a stronger fight on the offensive front, the Seminoles forced multiple errors and used consistent defense to hold the Eagles down from catching up.

Kubura hit a perfect 1.000 in the set with six kills on six total attacks, while five other Seminoles contributed to the team’s 14 total kills. An assisted block from Kubura and Jackson and 10 digs from six different players helped the team hold on to the lead and take the second set for a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.

Set 3 – Florida State 25, Boston College 13

The Seminoles didn’t change its approach going into the third set, as the team saw another nearly perfect performance on both offense and defense. Both Knuth and Brianne Burkert hit perfect 1.000 percentages, while Jackson led the offense with four kills on five attacks with no errors, and added four total blocks (one solo) to help the team hold Boston College down.

FSU’s six blocks and nine digs in the set helped hold the Eagles to under .100 hitting once again.

Florida State will finish out the regular season on the road, heading to Virginia and Virginia Tech on Nov. 17 and 19, and then Clemson and Georgia Tech on Nov. 22 and 24.
