UAB holds off Florida A&M 85-73

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - C.J. Washington scored 20 points to lead four players in double figures as UAB defeated Florida A&M 85-73 Wednesday afternoon.

Washington, a 6-8 junior college transfer out of Florida, has led the Blazers (5-2) in scoring four times this season. Rod Rucker and Chad Frazier split 34 points and Robert Williams came off the bench to score 14.

UAB continued its strong rebounding, beating A&M (1-5) on the boards 49-34. Rucker and Washington each had eight. Frazier racked up six assists.

If the Blazers showed a weakness it was from the foul line, where they missed 20 times in 49 attempts. Four games earlier they set a school record of 94 percent (16 of 17). Meanwhile, Florida A&M made 11-14. UAB was called for 14 fouls, A&M had 36 with four players fouling out.

Jamie Adams led the Rattlers with 16 points and Reggie Lewis had 13.
