ATLANTA, Ga. (WTXL) - After falling behind 4-0 in the first inning, No. 1 Florida State baseball rallied with two runs in the fifth and three more in the eighth to knock off Georgia Tech 5-4 at Russ Chandler Stadium in Atlanta.

The Noles would finally take their first lead of the series in that eighth inning off a two-run single from Josh Delph.

"It was such an unbelievably tough at-bat (for Delph)," Florida State head coach Mike Martin said. "He fell behind 0-2, fouled off a couple pitches and then just really showed what he is all about in hanging in there. No doubt it was a big lift for this baseball team."

"He made a good pitch on me," said Delph. "The first pitch was a high fastball and he just beat me. He made a good pitch on the outside black, down 0-2; I knew he had good sliders. I got a fastball low and outside, I was a little early on it and probably should have hit it to left field, but it worked. I got around a little bit and hit it up the middle."

One day after throwing 56 passes in the Garnet and Gold Spring Game, Jameis Winston came on to pitch the ninth and shut-down the Georgia Tech offense to earn his fifth save of 2014.

"I probably wasn't as sharp as I usually am but whatever it takes to get a win, I'm down for it," added Winston.

FSU returns to Tallahassee and will face Jacksonville Tuesday, April 15. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
