TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Capping a fantastic career at Florida State, Lacey Waldrop added another award to her long list of accomplishments today as she was named a Third Team All-American by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. It is the third All-America honor of her career as she placed on the third team in 2013 and first team in 2014, and she joins Shamalene Wilson (1994-96) and Veronica Wootson (2004, 06-07) as the only Seminoles to be named an NFCA All-American three times in their careers.

“Lacey has meant so much to this program as was part of a pitching staff and senior class that helped lead this team to excellence on and off the field,” said head coach Lonni Alameda. “She worked really hard to make herself the best teammate she could be, the best pitcher she could be every day in her work ethic, in the weight room and on the field. I’m so proud of her and excited for her future, but also appreciative of the legacy she’s left to the younger players on this team.”

Waldrop already won 2015 ACC Pitcher of the Year.  This season she finished with a 28-7 record and a 1.52 ERA as the Seminoles reached the Super Regional round of the NCAA Championships for the third season in a row. She also posted 232 strikeouts and allowed just 46 earned runs in 211.1 innings in 2015. The senior led the ACC in ERA and opponent batting average (.163) and was in the top three of eight different statistical categories.

The Chester, Va., native tossed no-hitters this season versus Georgia Southern and Coastal Carolina and recorded seven career no-hitters. She was named ACC Pitcher of the Week four times this season and finished with 16 weekly conference honors for her career.

Waldrop earned seven wins in 2015 over ranked opponents, including Women’s College World Series participants UCLA and Auburn. On May 3, she became Florida State’s all-time wins leader with her 108th victory in the circle. She finished her career with a 109-29 record, 1.37 ERA and 917 strikeouts over 859.2 innings.

Waldrop is the 3rd overall pick in the 2015 National Pro Fastpitch Draft.  She is scheduled to begin her career with the Chicago Bandits in a few weeks.
