TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Recording the first 10 outs of the game via strikeout, Kylee Hansonwas on fire in the circle on Friday as the redshirt senior recorded a no-hitter as No. 6 Florida State (48-10) posted an 8-0 win in five innings over Jacksonville State (33-24) in the opening game of the NCAA Tallahassee Regional.
Hanson (26-4) tied a season high with 13 strikeouts as the Gamecocks only put two balls in play for the game on a pair of fly outs to centerfield. She struck out the side in each of the first three innings and has recorded three strikeouts in an inning 16 times this season, with 64 total innings in 2018 with multiple strikeouts.
It is the fifth no-hitter of Hanson’s career and the second as a member of the Garnet and Gold. The redshirt senior did not allow a hit over 7.0 innings in a 5-0 win at NC State back on May 5.
With the win, FSU advances to play Auburn (41-15) on Saturday, May 19 at 12:00 p.m. The winner of that game will play in Sunday’s 12:00 p.m. regional final, while the loser will play again on Saturday at 5:00 p.m.
It marks the first run-rule victory for the Seminoles in NCAA Tournament play since a 13-1 win in six innings over UAB in the Athens Regional on May 21, 2011.
The Seminoles took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning by way of a two-RBI single by Sydney Sherrill. Cali Harrod started the offense with a one-out single to left center and a pair of four-pitch walks with two outs to Jessie Warren and Carsyn Gordon loaded the bases for the ACC Freshman of the Year. Sherrill drove in season RBI No. 47 and 48 to give Florida State the early lead.
FSU scored five runs before recording an out in the fourth inning and finished with six total runs for the 8-0 final score. Dani Morgan led off with an infield single and Anna Shelnutt followed with a walk. Elizabeth Mason made it 3-0 Seminoles with an RBI single to right field.
Harrod walked to load the bases and Cassidy Davis entered to pinch hit and fought back from a 1-2 count to draw a walk on eight pitches to extend the lead to 4-0. Warren cleared the bases with a double to right center, putting the Noles up 7-0 and she moved into 12th place in NCAA history with her 261st career RBI.
Zoe Casas hit an RBI double later in the inning to score Warren, marking the 95th double hit by FSU to set a school single-season record. The 2018 Seminoles passed the mark of 94 doubles set just last year in 2017.

Single-game tickets will be available at the stadium for $10 for adult reserved seating and $5 for berm/standing room only, youth and seniors. The ticket office is located at Gate B on the west side of Doak Campbell Stadium and the office hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. ET.
