TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The second-ranked Florida State soccer team is back on the road this weekend looking to maintain its spot atop the ACC standings.

The Seminoles, who are riding a 10-match win streak overall and eight straight wins in the ACC dating back to last year, open the week in Chapel Hill on Thursday, with a top-five showdown against the Tar Heels.

Thursday night’s match marks the 16th time in the last 18 meetings that FSU and UNC have faced each other when ranked in the top 10. Florida State has been the higher ranked team six times including each of the last three games - all wins for the Seminoles.

With a win on Thursday, Florida State would earn its seventh all-time victory over North Carolina. No school has ever defeated UNC seven times. FSU and Notre Dame each have six victories over the Tar Heels.

Thursday night’s showdown will air live on the ACC’s Regional Sports Network, on Sun Sports in Tallahassee and on ESPN3.
