TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Across north Florida and south Georgia on Wednesday., high school athletes took full advantage of national signing day. Wednesday, February 3rd was the first day for high school football players to sign college scholarships.

Across Leon County, to Madison County, and all the way to Valdosta, seniors signed with colleges across the country. At North Florida Christian, two football players signed Division I scholarships. Armunz Mathews inked with South Florida, with Korey Charles signed with Mississippi State.

"I've always had a dream of playing college ball and hopefully moving on further then that, so it's kind of unreal a little bit for me," said Charles at the ceremony. "It's very exciting to happen for me and my mom. Being able to get this blessing and opportunity to play college ball is truly a blessing."

Several athletes also signed with Florida State and Florida A&M. At Wakulla, the Seminoles picked up wide receiver Keith Gavin, while athlete Gabe Nabers signed with the Noles at Lowndes.

"I just see it as a dream come true really," said Nabers of getting the opportunity to play at Florida State. "For any kid growing up playing football, the dream is to be able to continue to play, so for me to be able to do that and go to FSU is just a blessing."

Several other athletes also signed on Wednesday, including baseball, softball, and track and field stand-outs.
