MACON, Ga. - Head Coach David Dean joined players  Chris Anderson and Kenny Murphy to represent the Valdosta State football program at the annual Peach State Pigskin Preview on Tuesday at the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame Museum in Macon, Ga.

The event allowed an opportunity for media outlets to speak with coaches and players from college teams at all levels throughout the state of Georgia.

The Blazers will aim to use a strong 2014 season as a catapult for the upcoming campaign, which is scheduled to open up on the road on Saturday, September 5th against the Golden Rams of Albany State.

"Obviously, the way it ended for us in the quarterfinals last year against West Georgia leaves a bad taste in our mouth because you're so close to another national championship," said Dean. "The good thing is that our guys are working incredibly hard in the offseason. They're ready to get back out there."

Valdosta State posted an impressive 10-3 record last season and saw major contributions from both Murphy on the defensive side of the ball as well as Anderson at the wide receiver position.

"We're looking forward to leading this team in every aspect," said Murphy in reference to his role as a member of the 2015 senior class. "We have an opportunity to be an example of how to practice, how to be in meetings, and how to carry yourself on the field come gameday. It's a group of leaders who know what to do and how to do it, and we have developed a bond with each other."

The 2015 schedule features five home games, four away games, and a neutral contest against Winston-Salem State in Powder Springs, Ga. on Saturday, September 12.

"We want to win the Gulf South Conference title outright and go after another national championship," said Anderson when asked about the team's goals for the upcoming season. "We've got to come out with a chip on our shoulder this year, take it game by game with our conference matchups, and play our hardest to try and get W's."
