TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - 'I can be.' That's the theme of career workshop at the FAMU school of architecture today.

Girls as young as 7 years old took on the task of designing their very own dream doll house.

Under the watchful eye of architects, and interior designers these young ladies got a hands on introduction to the field of architecture.

And the organizer Ayonna Patterson, a FAMU alumna, says doesn't want young girls to be detoured from fields that are male dominated, or that they don't know they can be a part of.

Right now less than 41% of architects are female according to the most recent report from the national architecture accreditation board.

Patterson hope that the 42 girls from FAMU DRS that put on their pink hard hats today will help break down those statistics and continue to dream big.
