GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Troopers are investigating after a car ran into a semi truck, causing a roadblock on I-10 Westbound in Quincy Wednesday morning.

The Florida Highway Patrol reports the crash happened at 9:58 a.m. on I-10 westbound at mile marker 179.

They say Earnestine Appleton, 64, of Jacksonville was driving eastbound on I-10 in the inside lane while a semi truck was going westbound in the outside lane.

Troopers say Appleton started to feel ill and ended up driving across the center grass median and across the westbound lanes, hitting a guardrail. Her 2013 Toyota Sienna then deflected off the rail, sending the car into the outside lane of I-10 eastbound.

The semi truck swerved in an attempt to avoid Appleton's car, but her car ended up crashing into the drive wheels of the semi cab and the rear tires of the trailer. Both vehicles came to a stop in the westbound emergency lane.

Appleton was transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital for minor injuries. FHP says charges are pending investigation.
