CRAWFORDVILLE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Wakulla High school Odyssey of the Mind team is asking for help getting to this year's state tournament.

The team of seven students will compete against other high school students from all around the state to design, build, and test a structure made only of balsa wood and glue that will balance and support as much weight as possible.

Wakulla High, however, is more than 4 hours away from the big competition, which will be held at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. They are asking for help getting to the competition and paying for supplies, food, and other miscellaneous costs.

WHS teacher Nick Weaver, says experiences from competitions like these are instrumental to student growth and that he hopes the team will be able to compete.

"We want our students to learn and be the best that the possible can. And those experiences, I think, are really going to be necessary for their real world experiences later on in life."

The team's ultimate goal is to get to the World Finals in Michigan this year.
