TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- A local tourism program will now be offered year-round to encourage residents and visitors to check out some of the area's top attractions.

Visit Tallahassee has extended its annual T.O.U.R (Tourism is Our Ultimate Resource) program, giving kids free admission to a featured site on the third Saturday of every month.

It was previously a summer campaign, but due to growing interest, Visit Tallahassee worked with more organizations to make the program year-round.

The Challenger Learning Center of Tallahassee has been part of the program for years.

The center will open its doors to kids free of charge on Saturday, September 17.

"In the downtown Tallahassee area, there's lots going on," said Christine Amrhein, marketing and communication director. "There's lots for tourists, but there's also lots for residents, and getting them out and getting them exposed to us as well as the great restaurants, the great atmosphere -- and realizing it's all accessible, and all budget-friendly, family-friendly. It's a great time, and then, hopefully, we'll drive tourism as well."

The Challenger Learning Center plans to hold free planetarium shows for kids, as well as educational demos. The center will also hold tours at its mission simulator.

The T.O.U.R. program kicks off Saturday, July 16 at Mission San Luis.
