VALDOSTA, Ga. -- A Valdosta woman is facing charges related to an internet scam involving French Bulldog puppies, according to Valdosta police.

Police say the suspect, 28-year-old Shari Bell, advertised online that she had French Bulldogs for sale. Victims sent Bell money, and she accepted payments for the puppies through Western Union. However, she actually didn't have any puppies for sale.

The incidents were investigated by the Valdosta Police Department Bureau of Investigations, and Bell is charged with two counts of felony theft by deception.  She was arrested and taken to the Lowndes County Jail.

As a result of this scam and other scams in the area, police are warning residents to be careful. Don't send money to an unknown source.
