TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - U.S. Rep. Corrine Brown is making a last stand in her effort to keep her congressional district from changing.

Court records show attorneys for Brown late Monday announced they would take a legal challenge to Florida's congressional districts to the U.S. Supreme Court.

A three-judge panel earlier this month ruled against the veteran congresswoman. Brown had argued the current map violates federal voting laws because it dilutes the voting rights of minorities. The panel found that Brown and her attorneys had not produced evidence to prove her case.

Brown is a Democrat from Jacksonville, and her district used to stretch south to Orlando. But a new map approved last year shifted the district westward to Tallahassee. She announced last week that despite the change she plans to run for re-election.
