UPDATED SUNDAY OCTOBER 19 AT 9:51 P.M.

According to Major Jim Russell with FSU-PD, two FSU students were riding bikes on Call Street near the Medical School Sunday evening. He says 20-year-old Timothy Kimbrell, a TCC student, was driving a truck in the opposite direction. When Kimbrell tried to turn into a parking lot, he didn't see the two students on bikes. One of them, 20-year-old Matt McDowell, stopped on the side of the road, but 19-year-old John Gruber kept riding, hitting the front and ending up underneath the truck.

Gruber was taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital where he is recovering from minor injuries.

Major Russell says neither student had a light on their bike and neither was wearing a helmet.
