UPDATE: Franklin Co. Students Dismissed Early After Reports of Bomb Threat

FRANKLIN Co., Fla. (WTXL) - students at Franklin County K-12 School, in Eastpoint, were dismissed following a bomb threat discovered at the school.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office discussed the validity of the threat with Superintendent Nina Marks and Principal Bray before coming to a decision to evacuate for the safety of students and staff.

K-9 officers from Bay County Sheriff's Office and Capital City Police conducted a thorough search of the campus.  No explosive devices were found during the search, suggesting the threat was false.

Officials continue to investigate who is responsible for the threat.

At this time, they say there is no reason to believe the students' are at risk.

Franklin County School will resume to its normal schedule Tuesday, March 31st.

According to Superintendent Nina Marks, a written threat against the school was discovered earlier in the day.

Franklin County Sheriff’s Department was called and advised the evacuation.
