Tallahassee, Fla. (WTXL)-UPDATE: The Tallahassee Police Department has made an arrest in the homicide investigation after a body was found in the woods near Willie Vause and Pecan road.

Officials believe the suspect, Leon Woodberry is responsible for the death of 24-year-old Shannan Gordon.

Her body was found on Saturday morning after a call made to the Consolidated Dispatch Agency.

Officers were able to trace evidence found in the woods back to the outside of an apartment at Savannah Crossing, there they executed a search warrant inside an apartment home and detailed two people including Woodberry.

A probable cause affidavit shows that Gordon suffered multiple large cuts to her body as well as defense wounds.

Woodberry is charged with premeditated murder. No word yet on his next court date but according to the Florida Department of Corrections website, Woodberry has a history of violence.

In 2001, he was arrested for sexual battery and burglary then later sentenced to 15 years in prison. Records show he was released in September, 2015.
