U. S. Small Business Administration Approves $50 Million in Disaster Loans

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The U. S. Small Business Administration has approved over $50 million dollars in disaster assistance loans for businesses and residents in Florida that were affected by Hurricane Matthew from October 3rd through the 19th.

The deadline to file an SBA disaster loan application for physical damage is Friday.

Officials say currently 15,000 disaster loans have been approved in the amount of $51.5 million dollars for affected survivors.

SBA disaster loans are available to most private non-profit organizations, homeowners and renters to cover uninsured losses from the disaster.

Interest rates are as low as 4 percent for businesses, 2.6 percent for private nonprofit organizations, and 1.5 percent for homeowners and renters.

Loan terms can be up to 30 years.
