PUNTA GORDA, FL (WWSB) - Florida Highway Patrol troopers discovered a partially submerged car Wednesday.

Around 11:35 a.m., troopers came across the blue 2011 Honda Sedan submerged in the water along a dirt road near the intersection of US 41 and Tuckers Grade.

Two males were outside of the car as it sank.

As troopers approached, both suspects fled on foot into a nearby wooded area.

After checking into the vehicle's registration, troopers found that it was reported stolen out of Illinois on Tuesday.

FHP, along with the Florida Wildlife Commission and the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office, located the two suspects who were attempting to hide in the woods.

Both were arrested without further incident. They were later identified as juveniles, ages 14 and 17. They were placed under arrest for grand theft auto and loitering and transported to the Charlotte County Jail.
