LOWNDES COUNTY, GA. (WTXL) - Two Lowndes County men are behind bars after dealing in stolen firearms with an undercover investigator.

Dexter Swift and Thomas Sheppard Jr. agreed to trade an assault rifle they had for guns that were stolen from recent burglaries. Despite knowing the guns were stolen the two made the deal anyway.

Swift and Sheppard met with the undercover investigator Thursday morning on Highway 376 in Lake Park and made the swap of the rifle for three handguns. The pair were immediately arrested and booked on multiple counts of criminal attempt to possess stolen firearms.

Swift and Sheppard were taken to the Lowndes County Jail. They are set to appear Friday in the Lowndes County Magistrate Court for arraignment hearing where a bond will be considered.
