Troopers Say 1 Dead After 3 Car Crash in Suwannee County

SUWANNEE COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Troopers said that a three car crash in Suwannee County has taken the life of one 76-year-old man.

The Florida Highway Patrol said that Ronald Smith was driving his car down U.S. 90 east in Live Oak, just before 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. 

They said that when Smith slowed his car down to turn left, a car behind him hit him from the back, forcing him into the path of another car that then hit him again.

Troopers said that Smith was pronounced dead on the scene.

One driver was transported to Shands Live Oak Regional Medical Center for minor injuries while the other, who was also driving with two unidentified minors in her car, was transported to UF Health Shands Hospital for serious injuries. 

The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation with charges pending as well.
