Troopers Identify Man Killed in Suwannee County Crash

SUWANNEE COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Troopers said that an early morning crash in Suwannee County claimed the life of a Gilchrist County man on Tuesday.

The Florida Highway Patrol said that 55-year-old Andrew Horne was killed in the crash around 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

They said that Horne was riding his motorcycle north on County Road 137 in when a truck driven by Wyatt Anderson turned left from 264th Street into his path.

Troopers said that they are still investigating the events and causes of the crash, though, according to investigators, the area had a heavy fog around the time of the crash that may have contributed.

Horne was the owner and an instructor at Andy Horne's Martial Arts Academy with several locations in Lake City, Hollywood, and Bell, Fla.

He was a retired southeastern United States Kickboxing Champion and World Contender (30-0, 24 ko's) and a 5-time World and National Empty-Hand Form and Weapons Champion. 

In 1992, he was inducted into the World Martial Arts Hall of Fame in Akron, Ohio, the Florida Hall of Fame in 1997, and received the Golden Life Time Achievement Award in 2001.  Then, in 2009, he was inducted in the category "Stunt Coordinator of the Year."  

His training included many different instructors over the years to include O'Sensei Robert Trias, Hanshi Robert Bowles, Grand Master Bill "Superfoot" Wallace, and Grand Master Chuck Norris.
