APALACHICOLA, FL. (wtxl) - The Florida Department of Economic Recovery will be receiving a $6 million dollar federal grant to restore oyster fisheries in the Apalachicola Bay.
Its all geared at restore the industry after a resource disaster was declared in the area in 2013. Governor Rick Scott made the announcement Wednesday.
$4.5 million of the $6 million granted will be used for the restoration of the oyster habitat. The remainder of the money will go to training education and facility upgrades.
