Worker injured trying to extinguish fire on West Tennessee Street

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A worker was injured trying to put out a fire at a commercial building on West Tennessee Street. 

At about 2:25 p.m. Monday, the Tallahassee Fire Department responded to a report of a commercial building fire at 1861 West Tennessee Street.  

When firefighters arrived on scene, they saw smoke coming from the building. TFD said the fire broke out in a business under construction.  

The fire was quickly found with the help of construction crews and the fire was extinguished. TFD stated one worker was injured in an attempt to extinguish the fire. 

The individual was treated on scene by TFD paramedics and did not require hospitalization. 

The fire caused an estimated $25,000 in damages. One adjacent business suffered some damage but is expected to open soon and one other adjacent business was not affected. 

TFD was assisted on scene by Tallahassee Police Department.   

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
