TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - A Tallahassee Community College basketball player is off the team, after he's arrested for stealing a scooter from an apartment complex a few weeks ago.

The TCC athletics department made the announcement today.

Nobertas Giga is charged with grand theft auto. He's accused of stealing a scooter from the University Trails apartment complex.

Giga was listed on the TCC men's basketball roster as a freshman from Lithuania.

He's off the team, effective immediately, and has been released from his letter of intent.

The athletics department released the following statement:

“The decisions made by our young men and women are accompanied by consequences, both good and bad. In this case, Mr. Giga, unfortunately, made an unwise decision and one that doesn’t comply with our standards. Going forward, I hope this can be a teachable moment for both Mr. Giga and the rest of our student-athletes.”
