TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Tallahassee's Animal Service Center is in need of canned dog food.

The center says they use canned food to encourage dogs to take their medications and help other dogs get up to a healthy weight.

The center would accept all kinds of canned food but they use pate a little more often.

"Our supplies are really low and we need canned dog food," said Michael St. John, the assistant director of Tallahassee's Animal Service Center. "We use it for medications, we put pills and things in them, and make meatballs and give them to the animals and then we also need canned food for puppies or older animals that have dental issues or just any pet that maybe needs something a little softer and a little bit more calories... you know something more than dry food."

The shelter is open Tuesday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
