TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - The Tallahassee Police Department announced Monday that two officers have been suspended regarding a tasing incident in September involving a grandmother.

On September 30th, 62-year-old Viola Young was tased by Officer Terry Mahan on Dunn Street in the Frenchtown neighborhood. A neighbor took a cell phone video of the incident that went viral.

Young's family members Quontarrious Jones, Quaneshia Rivers and Laguna Young were charged with resisting an officer without violence.

According to police, Young approached officers to find out what was going on, but refused to leave. Police say Officer Terry Mahan tased her, and she was also charged with resisting an officer without violence.

Tallahassee Police says that they have closed this investigation and that the officers involved are facing corrective action. They said that they have suspended one officer, Christopher Woods, for two days without pay.

Another officer, Terry Mahan, has been suspended for four weeks without pay, mandatory training in de-escalation skills and will be transferred from his current assignment, according to the report.

TPD Chief Michael DeLeo said that "although the actions of Officer Terry Mahan were legal, his actions did not reflect the expectations of this agency, when he attempted to arrest Ms. Young and then utilized his Taser."

In October, State Attorney Willie Meggs announced that Young and her three family members involved would not face charges for the incident.

The court documents mentioned Young's age and that she has no criminal history. To prove a charge against her, court documents said that the State would have to prove that she was interfering with the arrest of her grandson, and the documents said that there is not enough evidence to prove that.
