TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) says in response to the decision of the grand jury in Ferguson, Missouri not to indict officer Darren Wilson for the shooting death of Michael Brown, they have added additional police officers to be on duty over the next several days for the safety and protection of people, neighborhoods and businesses.

"This is a case where people have strong feelings and concerns about justice," said Police Chief Michael DeLeo. "Those concerns are not only felt in Ferguson, but also across the country. We respect the rights of citizens of Tallahassee to gather lawfully and voice their concerns. Clearly it is important that it is done in a peaceful manner and we've worked closely with local groups and leaders who are also committed to peaceful assembly."

About 50 people gathered at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center in Tallahassee and marched to the Florida Capitol in a protest tonight. Check back with www.wtxl.tv for more on the local protest.
